MRI LUMBAR SPINE
Sagittal T1W TSE, T2W TSE / Axial T1W TSE and T2W me2d obtained at disc level from L1 – L2 to L5 – S1 discs.
Findings
Lumbar spine has scoliosis with convexity to the left – at about L2 level.
The lumbar bodies otherwise are normal in shape, outline and height. No hemivertebrae or bony defects seen.
No abnormal signal seen in the bony vertebrae.
The L4/L5 disc shows some degree of loss of it’s normal high signal intensity in T2WI.
There is left lateral posterior protrusion of L4/L5 disc material seen. The disc material is seen indenting the thecal sac and cause narrowing of left exit foramen. The disc material is also seen abutting laterally exiting left L4 nerve.
Rest of disc levels appear normal.
No significant ligamentum flavum thickening, lamina hypertrophy or facet degeneration seen.
No spinal canal stenosis.
IMPRESSION
Lumbar scoliosis with left postero lateral protrusion of L4/L5 disc. Mass effect as mentioned above.
